Early buzz: the first photo shoot

Posted by: dave // Category: News // 4:12 am

This weekend was my photoshoot for Angie’s List Magazine. As you may recall, the editors of that august publication wisely realized that nothing complements a story about toilets better than a picture of a certain webmaster whose ego is swelling by the day. We couldn’t get into CBGBs like we hoped, so we decided to do the shoot at my home and at a bar near my house. (Commonwealth in Park Slope, Brooklyn, for those who want to do a Dave-themed pub crawl.) My lovely wife Jenny (who convinced me to wear a suit — NOT my idea) took photos of the photographer taking photos of me:

If the photographer was amused or confused or disgusted to be taking pics of some dude and his computer in a toilet, he didn’t show it. He was very enthusiastic as he had me go through a variety of poses — sitting on the toilet, sitting on the tank, sitting on the floor with my arm around the toilet (NOT at the bar, fortunately), looking pensive, looking disgusted, looking happy, looking intellectual, and so on. It was a good experience, and I hope there will be another one (at which I will surely demand a make-up artist, a personal assistant, a free buffet, and a private bathroom).

Introducing “Poop Culture”

Posted by: dave // Category: News // 4:10 am

Offically titled Poop Culture: How America is Shaped by its Grossest National Product, the book is slated to hit the stores April, 2007. According to Adam, my editor at Feral House, the distributor will begin pimping it in the next month or two. It will be around 280 pages, a 6×9 trade paperback, and will retail for $15.95. A bargain!

Perhaps most spectacularly, the foreword is written by an actual celebrity: Paul Provenza, the actor and comedian who directed The Aristocrats. Why him? Because his next movie is one near and dear to every PoopReporter’s heart: an adaptation of the famous kids’ book Everybody Poops.
